About Me

Through recent years my personal yoga practice has provided me with the space, strength and determination to move toward a life in which I can share my enthusiasm and love of the yogic lifestyle and associated benefits with others. I aim to create a fun, relaxed and inspiring environment in which students can develop and learn at their own pace, in a way that suits their individual requirements.

I practise many different styles and aim to pass on my learning to my students. Personal experience of injury and health concerns have developed not only my personal practice, but also my interest in therapeutic application of yoga. This can be very different for every student as practice is a very individual process.

Yoga is my passion & provides me with a motivation & enthusiasm to live and enjoy my life & the lessons it provides! My personal yoga practice has built upon my training to provide me with the space, strength and determination to create a fun, relaxed and inspiring method of teaching. Within which students can develop and learn at their own pace, in a way that suits their individual requirements. I began my training with the British Wheel of Yoga under Dave Charlton where I was lucky enough to practice in the Viniyoga style, focusing on the importance of the breath and the therapeutic application of yoga. From this I have explored & trained in many different styles, from the bounce and musical inspiration of Yogabeats with David Sye, the self exploration of Radical Freedom with Christopher Gladwell, to the release of Yin yoga with Sarah Powers or the quiet internal journey of Peter Hersnack. Doug Keller has inspired me with teachings on Yoga as Therapy and combined with the anatomical learning of Yoga Therapy trainings I have developed a unique style to explore the practice of yoga.

Yoga is a journey, along which I can act as a guide & support, with the knowledge and experience gained from training with a number of amazing and inspiring teachers in a variety of styles.  I am truly committed to ongoing study & my personal practice, which allows me to teach others about the joy of the breath & how it can open into the physical body and calm the mind. My education in nutrition and my Masters degree in Weight Management also allow me to advise and guide in helping the physical body feel lighter as well as creating space in the body through yoga.

Everybodys’ practice and the journey may be different but the results will be apparent internally & externally in both body and mind. Both in your internal relationship with your 'self' and in your relationships with others, changing how you view & move through your world. Whatever we are doing it always comes back to the breath, it is the breath that allows us to move into a place of internal stillness. That connects our physical bodies and our wayward minds and allows us to move with openness, fluidity and focus. During this holiday we shall explore some simple principles of gaining support from our breath, then using that support to create space. With space we have opportunity...to notice, to move and to change. Space can be the opposite of restriction. Yoga is not a restriction it is an opportunity to create space; physcially, mentally and spiritually. With space we have the opportunity to focus, to find our dristi....And from there to discover dolce vita! The joy of life!

Whereas therapy is usually on a one-to-one basis, there is also room for it's application in a class situation. This includes having experience, knowledge and interest in adapting and modifying the physical postures  to suit individual students' physical situation. For example opening a dynamic class to a student with a wrist injury by determining particular modifications, including support and props where necessary to enable access to and the positive benefits of the postures to be enjoyed. This can allow the practice to, for example, rehabilitate and strengthen previous injuries, support pain management techniques, manage and alleviate symptoms and stiffness in arthritis and reduce stress and tension in day to day life. It is also suitable for yoga during pregnancy and post natal.

I hope to encourage people who may not have previously considered yoga to discover the benefits it can bring to both body and mind. Everyone can discover the potential for wellness & alignment in their bodies and minds with the correct regular practice.

I am committed to ongoing study and personal practice. I continue to attend workshops and retreats in the hope of not only expanding my own practice but also to bring my knowledge to my classes. I offer small group classes, yoga therapy and individual tuition. I also offer exercise referral classes in association with your GP.
